Gentle light therapy for stubborn dry eyes
For burning, gritty, watery eyes that haven’t settled with drops, we offer Low Level Light Therapy as part of a tailored dry eye plan.
Dry eye can make each day hard work.
Burning.
Grittiness.
Watering.
Vision that comes and goes on screens.
At Aston Eyes in Craigieburn, we see this every week in our dry eye clinic.
We start by working out what is driving your symptoms, then build a plan that may include home care and gentle in‑clinic treatments like Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT).
What is Low Level Light Therapy?
Low Level Light Therapy is a gentle light treatment we use for some people with dry eye, especially when the eyelid oil glands (meibomian glands) are not working well.
You sit or lie back with your eyes closed
A soft light panel rests around the eyelids
Each session takes about 15 minutes
There are no needles and no surgery
The light is designed to support the eyelid glands that make the oily layer of your tears.
When that layer works better, the tears can last longer on the eye surface and may feel more comfortable.
How LLLT fits into your dry eye plan
At Aston Eyes, LLLT is not a stand‑alone “quick fix”.
It is one tool inside a full dry eye clinic plan.
Step 1 – Dry eye assessment
We begin with a detailed assessment.
We ask about your symptoms, medications, work and screen time.
We look at your tear film, eyelids and meibomian glands.
Step 2 – Tailored plan
Based on what we find, we put together a plan that may include:
Home care such as drops, lid wipes and warm compresses
In‑clinic ZEST lid cleaning to clear bacteria or lash mites
Low Level Light Therapy to support the eyelid glands
Other options, such as IPL or punctal plugs, when appropriate
We explain the plan in plain language and agree on what you feel ready to do.
Step 3 – Review and adjust
We review your symptoms and key test results over time.
This helps us see how your eyes are responding and adjust your plan if needed.
Many patients tell us their eyes feel less burning and grittiness, and their day‑to‑day vision is more stable, once they have worked through a full course of care.
